Really good change of pace! I hadn't gone to a South American/Caribbean restaurant before, and I quite enjoyed it! The jerk half chicken was daunting in that you have to cut the meat off the bones, but definitely worth the effort. The curry goat was also very good, I think it was my favorite of the two. There were a few small bones in it, so I'd advise caution when eating. Service was really good, they were attentive and friendly! I also enjoyed the ambiance, it was busy but didn't feel too loud.

BOMB!! The squid ink pasta... my mouth is watering just typing about it. Has shrimp, clams, squid and the seasonings make it superb! The beef patty- The best! The crust is tasty AF too. Service was fast. They play live music. The band was pretty cool. The plantains and ceviche was perfectly tangy and seasoned too. They need a little more plantains though.

I loved this spot! Most of the patrons were outside but my sister and I wanted to sit indoors. We were instantly sat down at the table and our server was so sweet! We ordered the Calypso Ceviche and skillet bread for appetizers. Both were delicious and fulfilling. We also drank a red wine sangria and chasing the devil, which were both refreshing. Our main entrees were so flavorful: oxtail Stew and Guyanese cook-up rice. We'll definitely be back soon!

BOMBSHELL! I will DEFINITELY be going back! I enjoyed my food! Highly seasoned and even when I asked for some spiciness, they came with some REAL spiciness! I brought that back home! My drink was great! I got the Guyanese Cook-up Rice! The coleslaw was delicious and the rice was flavorful as well! My sister got the Oxtail Stew and enjoyed it as well. We made this place our last stop on our foodie day and it absolutely ended on a blast! The place felt homey and a place you can bring friends, family, or even a date. I can't wait to go back!

To me, the standout dishes were goat curry and the run down fish! the coconut flavor in the fish was creamy and sweet. the flaky roti-like bread was such a delicious accompaniment to the goat curry. i was a bit skeptical ordering this dish because i've never had goat before, but it was amazing. the ambiance was really nice too. super colorful interior and live jazz! i would say to make a reservation beforehand though because our party of 4 had to wait over an hour. i would come back!

Date night with the wife on a weekend night. Place was packed but still were able to get a tabletop near the bar almost immediately. SERVICE: 3.75/5.0 Service was spotty although were tended to more often than not, just by (literally) 5 different people only 1 of which introduced themselves, but on a busy night thats more understandable. Servers/server assistants were all friendly minus one who seemed annoyed that we weren't immediately ready to order within the first 2 minutes we sat down. AMBIANCE: 5.0/5.0 Incredible decor and really great lighting. Live band played music. Buncha old dudes just jamming away...so cool. Very high energy, very vibrant. Perfect for date night. FOOD: 4.5/5.0 Best paella in the tri-valley area. Wife got the squid ink paella which was a little heavy but she enjoyed it immensely. I got the paella oyo which had chicken, sausage and shrimp ...very close to perfection. Maybe a little lacking on the soccarat (the crispy caramelized rice on the bottom of the pan). Otherwise fantastic. We also shared the pea fritters (phoulorie) and the pan bread. Pan bread was very soft and came in quite a large serving. Nothing special about it but it was nice. The pholourie fritters were great tho, accompanied by a tamarind and mango chutney. DRINKS: 4.75/5.0 caiparinha was very strong and very good. Beer selection was ok. They were out of the beer I wanted but ended up with a good hazy IPA. OVERALL: 4.5/5.0 One of the best places to check out in the Tri-Valley area. Definitely top 2 or 3 in Pleasanton.

I dined here with a group on a Saturday evening and had a pleasant experience. All the tables filled up by around 6:30, and there was even a line outside. So I suggest making a reservation if you're coming during peak dinnertime. Food: 3.5/5 I ordered a couple of items for the table, so I got to try several dishes. The beef patties were delicious, and the goat curry was flavorful. The oxtail wasn't as tender as I had hoped. The paella was fine but not too memorable. Ambiance: 5/5 The ambiance was very lively, especially with the live music that evening. Service: 5/5 Service was fantastic too. The staff realized we were celebrating a birthday and helped make the evening very special for our group, including surprising us with a birthday dessert.

Ladies night out! Popped in on a Monday afternoon just in time for happy hour. We ordered a round of cocktails and appetizers to share. The sizzling jerked shrimp were cooked perfectly and the spice and flavor balance were spot on. The Trinidadian channa was flavorful, but could probably add a side of bread to soak up the sauces. The Guyanese cookup rice was disappointing. The dish was presented well, but the meat completely missing and was predominantly bone and gristle. The Guyanese cookup rice is the reason we are not rating 5 stars. The service was solid. We were checked on regularly and our water was refilled regularly.

Our favorite place to dine in Pleasanton downtown! Unique Caribbean fusion menu with creative drinks, lovely citrussy salad options and lip smacking desserts! We have visited so many times and love everything we've tried here!! Staff is wonderful and so accommodating and the ambience is fun and casual. Love Oyo and will be back for my favorite Oyo Paella!!
